The Giants of the Sky: a high-flying show

In the heart of the medieval city of Chauvigny, in the remains of the Château des Evêques to the east of Poitiers, a 45-minute free-flying bird show takes place.  Enjoy the spectacle of magnificent birds of prey, parrots with sumptuous colours and many other atypical birds which revive an ancestral practice: Falconry.

With your family or a group of friends, you can enjoy their aerial prowess in this bird park, just an hour and a half’s drive from the Domaine du Golf in Saumur. Take a weekend trip to Géants du Ciel, 30 minutes from Coussay Les Bois, in the Vienne department, where huge marabou, storks and other parrots will brush past you as they soar. Children will be amazed by the rare and amazing birds such as kookaburras and caramias.

This year, new species will be added to the family of this bird park: the very rare African Gymnogenes, unique in France, the Spectacled Owl, the Pope’s Vulture, a colourful scavenger, and new parrots will be added to the flight of the Macaws… A trip rich in discovery to be seen again and again this summer!

After the show, it is possible to walk through the castle ruins of the pretty medieval town of Chauvigny, the aviaries and other panoramas close to the Loire castles. As for the activities, educational panels and wooden games are proposed for young and old children.
