Today, the royal castle of Chinon is one of the most beautiful in Europe.

In 1585, the future Cardinal of Richelieu, Armand Jean du Plessis, spent his entire childhood there. It was only after his death in 1642 that this splendid castle was built in his name. With its rich history, it was in this royal dwelling in Chinon in the Loire Valley that Joan of Arc had her first meeting with the Dauphin of the kingdom of France, the future Charles VII, in 1429.
