One of the most beautiful zoos in France between Le Mans and Angers

Founded 70 years ago in the Sarthe department, La Flèche Zoo was the first private zoo to be created in France. It is currently one of the 5 largest zoos in France, with more than 1,500 animals of 150 different species on 14 hectares. Located in the town of La Flèche, near Le Mans and Angers, it has seen its attendance and reputation increase following the filming and broadcasting of several seasons of the documentary series “Une saison au zoo” on France 4. This programme, which is watched by both children and adults, follows the daily life of the park’s caretakers and animals.

Unusual activities for an ever greater immersion

Spend an unforgettable day among 1200 animals in a 14-hectare green setting! Throughout the year, several free shows are offered to visitors in a natural setting. This is a great opportunity for a group outing! Enjoy a long walk with your family to meet mythical animals (elephants, giraffes, hippos, wildcats, crocodiles…) and rarer species such as the fascinating lemurs. You can spot the hippos easily by the smell of the small pond in which they soak as well as the stars of the zoo: the magnificent Kruger lions with their surprisingly pale colour.

Since May 2017 and after extensive work, a new area dedicated to Asia has been opened to the public with ten new species.
